IPhone Foldable Phones

The rumors surrounding the iPhone Foldable.

Everything we know about the first Apple's first Foldable phone.

The cult of Apple has waited years for the release of a Foldable phone, since brands like Samsung, Motorola and even Google have been showing off their own foldable gadgets and devices. While iPhone fans/cult seem to be playing the waiting game... and losing.

But now the wait may be over, as a new rumor have been doing laps around online world. If the leaks, patents and insider whispers are true, Apple is finally ready to make its move into the foldable phone game.

As well as another rumored foldable project: the iPhone Flip.

Release date:

Supposedly Apple is currently eyeing a Fall 2026 launch, most likely alongside the release iPhone 18 series.

Rumor has it that production is to begin in late 2025, with Apple carefully testing hinges, display panels and Internal durability.

Design: Think iPad Mini... ( That Folds in Half )
So, what's this thing going to look like?

The iPhone Fold is expected to feature a book-style vertical fold, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. When closed, you'll have a compact phone with a 5.5-inch cover display, perfect for checking notification or taking quick calls.

But when you open the phone,(Cue the dramatic music...)! You're greeted with a nearly 8-inch internal display, featuring a 4:3 aspect ratio. Imagine browsing the web, streaming Netflix or editing photos on something that looks and feels like an iPad Mini that fits in your pocket.

Apple is reporteding obsessed with eliminating the crease that most foldable phones have down the middle. They're working with Samsung Display to create a crease-free OLED panel using in-cell touch technology that reduces screen thickness by almost 20%.

When it comes to materials? Expect premium all the way: a liquid-metal or titanium alloy hinge, super-slim profile ( Word on the online street is what when unfolded it getting to be 4.5mm, 9.5mm when closed), and possibly even strengthened ultra-thin glass for added durability.

Power and Performance:
Built for the Foldable Lifestyle.

Running a big, bright, high-refresh-rate foldable screen takes serious horsepower and battery life has been a weak point in many foldable so far.

Industry insiders say what the iPhone Fold will deliver a 5,000mAh battery (or close to it ), likely using stacked or dual-cell battery tech. It'll probably run on Apple's next-gen chip, likely the A20 Bionic, offering better performance and energy efficiency than anything currently in iPhones.

There's also talk of Apple shrinking it's display driver IC down to a 16nm process, which means less power draw and longer battery life, exactly what a Foldable device needs.

Cameras and Biometrics:
What happens to the face ID?

For those who like and got used to using Face ID be prepared to be disappointed, or feel a little nostalgic, because guess who's back, "back again". Touch ID, but remember this a rumor, however there is so much information about this phone that it almost seems guaranteed.

Why? You may ask, Simply the space constraints and design limitations around the hinge and foldable display is responsible. Instead, Apple is expected to bring back legendary Touch ID although the Touch ID is still on the Mac Book but has not be seen on a iPhone since the iPhone 8. This time embedded in the side-mounted power button, similar to what we've seen on newer iPad.

On the camera front, a dual rear camera setup, a punch-hole selfie camera on the outer screen and even rumors of an under-display camera for the internal foldable display. Picture this video calling with no visible notch or hole-punch in the middle of your opened display. Pretty cool, right?

The Price Tag:
Prepare your wallet people, it going to be a rough ride.

Let's be honest:Apple doesn't do "budget-friendly" for first-gen products, or any products really.

So early reports hint at the iPhone Fold price range to $2,000 and $ 2,500 USD. That's "luxury-level" pricing but expected, considering the tech and engineering going into this device.

Apple is reportedly working on a limited first production run of 3 to 5 million units, slowly ramping up to 15-20 million over its life cycle. So if you want one move fast... before someone else beats you to it!" Or start saving now.

FOLD vs. FLIP:
What the difference and which will come first

While there is a lot of the buzz on the iPhone Fold, Apple is also said to be working on a second foldable device: The iPhone Flip.

The difference between the Fold and Flip:

The iPhone Fold seems to be coming first, designed for people who want the power of an iPad Mini with the portability of a phone. The Flip, with its smaller, pocket- friendly design, is likely still a couple of years away.

Final Thoughts

If even half these rumor come true, the iPhone Fold could be the biggest design shift for Apple since the first iPhone in 2007.

But if you want to know, if the iPhone Fold or iPhone Flip is worth the wait? You are going to have to make your own mind up, based on what you are looking for in a device
